Changing lives through helping hands
It is important to be a force for good in your community. At FCT, that is our mandate.
We are especially invested in the plight of youth homelessness and partner with many different organizations throughout the year to help in the fight.
At the end of the day, most of us have a secure place to call home—a warm supper, warm clothes and a haven from the chaos and confusion of daily life. Across Canada, 35,000-40,000 people between the ages of 13-24 have no such place. If they want to take a shower, or get out of the cold, they are forced to go to a shelter, or rely on the use of a friend’s couch. Not having a permanent and secure home, often puts them at physical risk, impact their ability to go to school, or even obtain adequate health care. It also has a life-long impact on their physical and emotional well-being and development. We owe them better.
This past December, FCT employees from all across the country participated in a company-wide Day of Caring to help address some of these needs. Through corporate and employee contributions, our volunteers assembled 1200 care packages containing personal hygiene products and other useful items to be given to youths in need.
These young people are our future. We all have a vested interest in helping them prepare for the responsibilities they will soon inherit. Their most urgent need is a safe place to call home. Through our ongoing partnerships with various organizations, FCT will continue to do all we can to help them find that place. It is the least we can do.
